The 3Com 3C16772 OfficeConnect Web site filter extends the
Internet access filtering capabilities of the 3Com OfficeConnect Internet Firewall 25 and
3Com OfficeConnect Internet Firewall DMZ. With this filtering software, you can specify
Web site categories—such as pornography or racial intolerance—that you don't
want your network users to view. The filter automatically forbids access to Web sites
matching these categories, operating from a frequently updated list of objectionable
sites. (3Com licenses the CyberNOT list, which is developed and updated weekly by The
Learning Company's Cyber Patrol unit.) As an alternative to blocking access, you can set
up the filter to log access by users. The 3Com OfficeConnect Web site filter is provided
on a one-year subscription basis, with a one-month free trial period. The filter can only
be used in conjunction with the 3Com OfficeConnect Internet Firewall 25 or 3Com
OfficeConnect Internet Firewall DMZ products.
Provides Internet Firewalls with extended capabilities to
control Internet access. You specify the categories of material and the Web Site Filter
provides a list of thousands of controlled sites—and automatically updates it every
week. Access to the sites can either be blocked or logged. The Web Site Filter is provided
as a 12-month subscription. Both Internet Firewalls come with a free 1-month trial
The OfficeConnect Web
Site Filter simplifies Internet filtering configuration by letting you make selections by
Web site category (this supplements the capability of the Internet Firewall 25 and
Internet Firewall DMZ products to filter according to designated keywords and URLs)
Advanced functions such
as user-selectable time settings and configurable user-group profiles let you customize
filtering parameters
The frequently updated
lists are designated down to file directory and page levels, giving you the ability to
choose whether to restrict all or part of a Web site
Customizable settings,
together with extensive lists of Internet sites, allow you broad latitude for determining
which Web sites can be viewed and even when they can be viewed
